True Blue Bay, Grenada

Today we had to go back to Turbulence Sails in Spice Island Marine who had helped us with the battery bank replacement which was a rather complicated job due to the very tight space and modifications required to the existing wiring. Due to our sudden flit with the earlier than expected lift and all the tools and everything to be frantically packed away, they were very pleased to see us come and pay the bill. We did have to ask them to come back to the boat to correct the connections as something had been crossed over meaning the isolator was not working as before. They came as soon as we mentioned it taking their dingy straight round from Prickly Bay with Kevin on board… even if they did have some excitement crossing the reef between the bays when a tool bag moved and knocked off the fuel pipe…!

We also started to think today about our route onwards from Grenada and the timing of the various legs forward from here. We have started to worry when talking with Barry & Marie-Jeanne (Pikorua) and Kate & Jonny (Newtsville) who are joining us for the wedding, just how soon they are heading to the Panama canal afterwards. We had known that due to the seasons we would need to be there by late March to avoid the monsoons, but now it is a bit closer, we are now thinking that there is still so much we haven’t seen in the Caribbean. Once you are through the Panama Canal there really is no turning back. So, we have started to do some research into possible alternative routes perhaps to Central America and delaying our transit for a season.

Jonny & Kate join us again for the evening and Kevin cooks a lovely casserole followed by a Gin Rummy tournament. However, Jonny and I are defeated at cards by the Wigan mafia!
